CreativeLive Review
Introduction To My CreativeLive Review
Whether we accept it or not, online learning and classrooms are now becoming part of our life. They especially became important when going to schools can pose a threat to students' lives during pandemics. You don’t need to go to a physical classroom to learn subjects such as math, science, history, etc., anymore. One of the most known websites to offer online courses is CreativeLive. In this article, we review CreativeLive and see if it is worth your while or not.
What is CreativeLive?
CreativeLive was founded by an American photographer Chase Jarvis and his partner Craig Swanson. They launched online classes in which fashion photography, web design, online business, public relations, and other majors, which I will mention later, were taught by well-known authors and professionals.
How does CreativeLive work, and how much does it cost?
Right now, CreativeLive is offering different classes in the following categories: (1) CLTV or Customer Lifetime Value, (2) Photo & Video, (3) Art & Design, (4) Music & Audio, (5) Craft & Maker, (6) Money & Life.
Any individual interested in their courses can sign in to the website and start watching the course. They are streamed online in real-time, and no fee shall be charged. For example, if you look at the website for
- 1. In the category ‘CLTV,’ you will see that the online course of ‘The Art of Nature Photography' will stream on the 13th of March or,
- 2. In the category ‘Music & Audio,’ you will see that the online course ‘Superior Drummer Master Class’ will be on on the 17th March
In other words, every course will be streamed on a pre-scheduled date. Well, if you are already part of this community, you will watch it on time, and you can watch those courses during the next 2 to 3 days. Unfortunately, once you missed a course, you will not be able to watch it unless you are willing to pay an amount of money.
It seems that people really love CreativeLive and that about 1 million students worldwide have participated in the courses. Also, it seems that charging students for watching courses online wasn’t really considered a negative aspect, and most individuals paid an average of 100 Dollars for a class. Good job, CreativeLive.
Generally speaking, this website charges USD 50 to USD 300 for each course. You will also be able to purchase a course before live-stream and watch them later.
I want to summarize the steps for watching a course on the website. The process will be as follows:
- 1. All the videos that are on air right now can be watched freely. You need to sign in and watch them without any problem.
- 2. If you don’t have time to watch a course, you can purchase the courses, and then the course will be added to your library. For example, the price for ‘The Science of Happiness' ‘How to Live Your Best Life’ is starting at USD 13. You can now purchase a monthly pass at USD 39 and an annual pass at USD 149.
- 3. If you become a subscriber of CreativeLive, you can watch all the courses at any time. This way, the cost per course will decrease significantly.
I have good news for you. You will also be able to download the videos. In other words, you can watch them online. I have watched three of the courses to see what the courses offer, and I was amazed by the videos' richness. I didn’t have really any experience in those courses, but I believe they were pretty helpful.
Most of the website users recommended watching videos on CreativeLive while they are streaming. But there are always pre-recorded videos that you can watch.
For more information on the prices, you can visit the website itself. Due to the high quality and rich video content of the website, trying the content for free a couple of times will be worth your while. If you think that the content is educational and you can learn a lot, well, you will carry out a purchase from the website.
Courses
As mentioned briefly, CreativeLive offers video content in 6 categories (look at paragraph 3). Also, these categories are all broken down into distinct fields. Some of these fields are mentioned as follows:
- In the Photo & Video, we have Photoshop, commercial photography, wedding photography, Canon / Nikon / Sony tutorials, street photography, etc.
- In Money & Life, we have Money and finance, podcasting, writing, social media, management, and leadership.
- In Art & Design, we have Design projects, logo design, web design, branding, etc.
- In Craft & Maker, we have Upcycling, quilting, fabric crafts, floral design, etc.
- In Music and Audio, we have Logic pro, studio pass, audio engineering, rock, etc.
Can I trust the Instructors of CreativeLive?
There are many applications and companies that offer services just like CreativeLive. However, it seems that CreativeLive’s educational material and production quality are unique to all its users.
Let me ask you a question. What is the first thing you expect from online courses? Exactly, experienced instructors, not just anyone who can calculate one plus one equals two. You know what I mean. Well, if it was the case, then we could have just used YouTube for learning. But we don’t. We are paying for something different and unique.
Comparison between YouTube and CreativeLive
This part is completely my opinion about YouTube. I don’t really consider YouTube as a place for learning. If I want to be honest, many other websites, just like YouTube, offer better learning materials than this website.
You know already about the competitive instructors and prices that finding them in other places can be time-consuming and hard. YouTube indeed is one of the good sources of learning too. But it really cannot compete with CreativeLive. I am talking about the quality of content, design, and also authenticity.
Sure, some videos have been prepared by experts, and I don’t deny them. But the thing is, they are short and don’t cover all the topics a person may need to know. In other words, the viewer will experience limited and even disjointed learning.
Yes, investing in websites such as CreativeLive can cost you money, but instead, you will learn from experts, from those who have actually gone through a lot of effort to be the person they are now.
That is exactly what CreativeLive offers. CreativeLive is working with highly experienced industry-leading instructors that you may or may not hear of. Several of these instructors are as follows:
- The famous investor and entrepreneur Tim Ferris, and writer of books such as “The 4-Hour Body” and “The 4-Hour Workweek”.
- American television host, relationship expert, motivational speaker Mel Robbins, and the writer of books such as “Stop Saying You're Fine” and “The 5 Second Rule”.
- The former soccer player and athlete “Lewis Howes” and the writer of “How Men Can Embrace Vulnerability.”
Well, it is just the first three-person in the long list of 700 instructors. Well done, CreativeLive.
How can you know that you have chosen the right course for your career?
This is the question that users mostly ask, and most of the time, they may regret what they have chosen.
As we mentioned, the courses are grouped into six categories. In each of the 6 categories, there are several courses to choose from related to the field you want. It is not a big milestone to pass through.
- Search through the topics is the easiest way to find a specific topic.
- Read the class description for every course to see what it is about.
- Besides, CreativeLive has provided a review section for those who enrolled and completed the course if you think you have chosen the right course for yourself or are skeptical about the one you will choose, search on the review section and look for both positive and negative feedback from the users. You will eventually know what course to participate in.
Advantages and Disadvantages
Advantages
After reviewing CreativeLive, I want to briefly tell the advantages and disadvantages of using CreativeLive as seen and expressed by the users of CreativeLive:
- Experienced Instructors: It seems that most users were happy about the choice, knowledge, and experience of those teaching in CreativeLive. Who doesn’t want to join the class of a bestselling author or an athlete? I mean, let’s be honest. They did something to reach their current position.
- Quality Courses in Terms of Knowledge. As mentioned above, it is hard to find a good source for learning where every field aspect is discussed. All the courses on CreativeLive are taught in-depth, nothing to be forgotten. Not only will the user enjoy it but also learn useful things.
- Use of Technology. The best way to record a class or teaching is by utilizing state-of-the-art technologies. We don’t use normal cameras anymore. Today, CreativeLive is using professional videographers, perfectly suited for this type of job.
- Vast Number of Courses. Although CreativeLive was founded in 2010, it grew a lot since then, and now users can choose from thousands of courses shown on CreativeLive.
- Availability. There was a time when we only had a computer and not so bad of an internet connection (I don’t forget the days where we had to listen to the awful sound of connecting to the internet). Now it is all different. The internet speed and devices that we use to connect to the internet are all changed. CreativeLive offered applications installed on phones running on iOS or Android operating systems to watch the video content.
- Users’ ability to download videos. Despite some other websites where you can not download the main video or speed limit is applied over the download option, you can easily download CreativeLive to your phone, pc, and laptop.
In addition to the above advantages, we can also name ‘abundance of topics,’ ‘live teachings,’ and ‘free courses,’ and ‘Courses on demand,’ are among the other advantages. The latter is the provided courses by CreativeLive based on needed courses of users.
Disadvantages
- It seems that users are disappointed over the prices in comparison with Skillshare. However, I believe that the quality of the courses in CreativeLive can exceed the ones in Skillshare. In order words, everyone gets what their money can buy (the truth of our cruel world where money talks above all).
- Users are not happy about the fact that CreativeLive doesn’t present them with any certificate. It seems that CreativeLive hasn’t provided any certificates or accreditation for its courses. So, if you are looking for a certificate after a certain course is finished, you better start looking somewhere else.
- Another problem that users complained about was that CreativeLive receives a certain amount of money for each course and not all its services. Well, I have seen this feature too, and I wanted to mention it in this part. I hope that CreativeLive will soon find a solution to this problem.
Conclusion
After reviewing users' experiences in www.g2.com and watching several courses on CreativeLive, I came to believe that this website with a wide variety of fields can help those interested.
You don’t need to buy one of the courses to watch them. You can try them once, and if you like the courses, you can purchase them. Otherwise, watching the courses are completely free. All you need to do is sign up to the website and start watching.
Let me be honest with you. CreativeLive is for someone who
- 1. Is looking to learn several creative skills by paying lesser money than on other websites.
- 2. Is struggling to grow his or her creativity.
- 3. Is trying to boost his or her confidence in creative and personal skills.
